A Khulna court on Sunday sentenced five people to life term imprisonment in a case filed over the murder of a man in Koira upazila of Khulna in 2013.

Judge of Additional District and Sessions Judge Court Md Yarab Hossain delivered the verdict in presence of the accused at 11:30 am.

The court also fined them Tk 20,000 each, in default of which they will have to serve six more months in jail.

The convicts are: Mamun Gazi, Mosharraf Hossain, Nuru Rahman, Sheikh Sajidur Rahman and Sheikh Motiar Rahman.

According to the case statement, the convicts hacked Akbar Ali, was a medicine trader, to death following a land dispute in the morning on July 26, 2013.

Rabiul Islam, son of the deceased, filed a case accusing five in this connection.
